THE GILDED CAGE — Criminal Underground

THE GILDED CAGE LOCATION: Unknown HOURS: 24/7 OWNER: Cree A hidden hub of criminal activity regulated by a man infamous among the poor and forgotten by the wealthy. The Gilded Cage is a steady source of income for those of lesser means, and displays jobs varying from simple theft to assassination from both cities. It is also a neutral space for thieves, mercenaries, smugglers, and black market vendors. Both regulars and wandering souls come here when living is just too hard for themselves, or too easy on others. However, this is not a place one stumbles upon. One must know of it to find it, and when they seek it out, individuals will be drawn to a different alley of the city or township they are currently in each time. Cree is usually around to oversee who is permitted to take work here, though it seems most are welcome at a price. NOTE: Doors to this hideout are magical, and appear within both Wyver and Olympia once a character has been made aware of it.

THE ALTAR OF VOLKKRA — Shaman Temple

THE ALTAR OF VOLKKRA LOCATION: The main temple is located in the heart of a neighboring mountain said to be the home of the origin dragon, Volkkra. However, there are several smaller branches all over Wyver. HOURS: 24/7 OWNER: Elssis The Altar of Volkkra is best known for housing a variety of magic and spells, but it is much more than just that. It is famed for housing an eternal flame, thought to have been created by one of the original dragons. The temple’s structure is labyrinthine, and those who wander through its halls often get lost without the guidance of a shaman. Even the shamans who have worked there for years sometimes find themselves confused by the place’s bizarre structure, which continues to house secrets even from them. Thankfully, whenever an outsider enters the temple they are gifted with a small flame; as long as they possess it, they can be located by the shamans no matter how lost they may become. As soon as one leaves these halls, the flame disappears. Although Olympia is known for its medical technology, potions and magic, the Altar is a place of dark arts and ancient forms of healing magic long thought to be lost to the ages. There are often rumors of the strange magical experiments that go on in the halls of The Altar, and the people of Wyver often wonder just what the results of these experiments may have been.

THE FORGED — Wyver's Weapon Shop

THE FORGED LOCATION: Closer to the Old City. HOURS: 10am - 6pm OWNER: Sirod While some weapons can simply be purchased by money, the people of Wyver believe that a warrior should contribute to the forging of their weapon. The strongest of weapons are created here, forged from the magical parts of beasts and materials that can only be found in the darkest depths of the Undergrowth. People must bring their own materials to the weaponsmiths of Wyver, who create personalized weapons and armors only for those they believe will be able to properly wield them. The shopkeeper often sends people on quests to find rare materials and ingredients, which are as much about testing the recipient as they are about securing the items. The shop is a testament to the Wyver philosophy of strength mattering above all else. Though the people of Wyver do not value trade as much as those of Olympia, the shop has remained over the ages based on the Wyvers unrelenting faith in their beliefs. The smiths that work here have been around for generations, and the history of their craft stretches as far back as the first leaders of Wyver.

FALMI'S RING — Fighting Ring

FALMI'S RING LOCATION: The East End. HOURS: All day, but the more notable fights tend to happen at night fall. OWNER: Wyver While fighting is common in Wyver, with brawls and street fights actively encouraged by the people, the greatest contests of strength are known to take place at Falmi's Ring in the East End. Here, people fight not only for sport and entertainment, but to solidify their own social standing. People are known to settle their disputes through battle in the Fighting Ring, where the result is considered sacred and cannot be disputed. From farmers fighting over land to warriors fighting over honor, there is no cause too large or small for the Fighting Ring. In turn, many merchants and business minded Wyverns have turned Falmi's Ring into the base of their largest gambling operations. People looking to make quick money often venture to the Ring just to observe and bet on the results. Emotions and adrenaline tend to run high in the arena, with both participants and observers sometimes finding themselves addicted to the thrill of the fight.

FYRRAN-BLESSED WATERS — Lagoon and Cold Spring

FYRRAN-BLESSED WATERS LOCATION: Scattered across the city, but the more prosperous ones tend to be around the West and South. HOURS: N/A. OWNER: Wyver Almost complementing the lush forests and jungles in Wyver, there are large bodies of water mixed among them. Most popular are the lagoons, which have certainly made the biggest splash. Many businesses have cropped up near these waterways, guiding people to the more secluded lagoons where anyone can enjoy some privacy, for a price. Some of the remote lagoons, the hardest to find without guidance, are also blessed with… special properties. Beyond the lagoons are the cold spring, another popular attraction. A welcome source of relief from the natural heat of the Wyver environment, the cold spring is said to be therapeutic, even able to cure light burns. Whether or not the rumors are true, there are certainly delicacies that can only be enjoyed near the cold spring, prepared from this very special water.

NAMARAK MOUNTAIN — Snowy Mountaintop

NAMARAK MOUNTAIN LOCATION: Near the edge of Wyver territory. HOURS: 24/7 OWNER: Wyver While the majority of Wyver is famed for the heat and humidity, there is at least one place known to be free of the high temperatures. Although it is surrounded by thick foliage at its base, the Namarak Mountain is elevated to a degree that its heights are usually frigid and snowy. A mist seems to constantly surround the top of the mountain, which has been a source of mystery to Wyver since the olden days. When the weather of Wyver falls a bit, the mountain caps are known to get several feet of snow. Enough to enjoy some good ol’ winter fun! Though the mountaintops aren’t kept in any sort of order by the Wyver people, they are probably… safe enough. And for a pretty piece of silver, you might be able to rent some sleds and a warm bed to sleep in for the night. There are no shortage of small cottages up in the mountains, though they are far from luxurious.

MYTHI'S FANGS — Spy Organization

MYTHI'S FANGS LOCATION: Unknown HOURS: Unknown OWNER: Rasyc A shadowy organization often spoken of in hushed whispers, almost always with a hint of disdain. Named after the last great dragon whose corpse still fills the Dragon’s Cove, Mythi’s Fangs serve as the dark underside to Wyver’s proud traditions. While the people of Wyver believe in strength and fair fights, there are those who understand that Wyver cannot flourish against Olympia without those… willing to dirty their hands. Though little is commonly known of the Fangs, with no shortage of misdirection and subterfuge prevalent concerning what they do, their purpose is to infiltrate Olympia and any other threats to Wyver, securing information through seduction and other underhanded means. Violence is frowned upon among their number, who firmly believe that a more subtle touch can achieve their goals far better. Beyond simply obtaining useful information, there are even rumors that the Fangs are responsible for some of the unfortunate accidents that befall Wyver’s enemies, both in and outside of Wyver’s borders.

KNIGHTRYDERS ORDER — Militia

KNIGHTRYDERS ORDER LOCATION: Old Wyver Capital HOURS: 24/7 OWNER: Heryn Located in the heart of the Old Wyver Capital, the Knightryders Order was originally a group of loyal Wyver citizens that defend the borders from the constant onslaught of attacks from Khalo and Olympia. As the order gained traction and reputation, its size grew along with it. Under Heryn's leadership, the Knightryders is among the biggest organizations in the kingdom. These days, the Order suffers those who are actually devoted to Wyver; while they are bloated in numbers, many have joined just to earn some silver. That is precisely why the Order is currently undergoing changes. Coordinating closely with those at Falmi's Ring, Heryn constantly holds tournaments to ensure that those who want to remain Ryder are willing to put their life on the line for the sake of Wyver. In the event of a war, the Ryders will be at the frontlines.

FIELDS OF THE EXALTED — Dragon Sanctuary

FIELDS OF THE EXALTED LOCATION: The outskirts of Wyver, on every side HOURS: All hours of the day and night OWNER: Thali The Fields of the Exalted are where the dragons of Wyver roam free. There are hundreds of acres of land for them to roam in, and plenty of livestock for them to feed on. It is their terrain, and those who come to form a bond with a dragon will quickly find that they need a lot of room for them to stretch their wings. The fields, and the dragons in general, are overseen by Beastmaster Thali. This includes many nurseries that specializes in the care of young fledglings. Though she can't be in multiple places at once, Thali does continuously supervise the outskirts and nurseries to make sure the dragons are healthy and behaved. Duties for those that work in the fields include gathering meat for feeding youngsters, bringing in livestock for tthe adults, breaking up fights between dragons, tending to sick creatures, and training youngsters. Wandering into the sanctuary without precaution, familiarity with the dragons, or being bonded to a dragon of your own is not advised. This is their home, after all, and while they are used to the presence of people, they are still wild and fiercely protective creatures. Accidental deaths are not unheard of. Anyone who wishes to work here must be fearless, have a deep appreciation for nature, and a lot of patience.
